  Pakistani Food Halwa puri Halwa puri is a breakfast dish. It comprises of two parts: puri and halwa. The halwa is made on its own, then served with the puri. Halwa itself is a sweet dish that can have a variety of forms based on which ingredients it's made with. These ingredients include carrots, potatoes, gajar ka halwa (carrot pudding), sooji ki halwa (semolina pudding) and chana daal halwa (lentils). Puri is deep fried bread or naan bread served with the meal. The main point to remember about this recipe is that it has to be eaten fresh in the morning for breakfast. It is traditionally eaten by dipping pieces of the puri into the hot halwa in your bowl and mixing it up in your mouth before swallowing.
